State government directs Petroleum Marketers to revert to N175 per liter

The state government has directed Petroleum Marketers in Akwa Ibom who adjusted their petrol pump price due to error from PPPRA website to immediately revert to N175 to avoid embarrassment from the Government.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Matters, Sir Victor Etefia stated this while answering questions from AKBC reporter on the latest price regime of petrol.

Sir Etefia wondered why marketers would rely on rumour about petroleum pump price increase but would not reduce it when price adjustment is announced.

He said there was no basis for increment when NNPC was still loading at its normal price hence government frowns at any form of profiteering by marketers.

Sir Etefia said a surveillance team would be empowered to undertake station by station inspection and culprit brought to book.

He therefore urged marketers to continue to sell products until further information to the contrary is received.
