Law makers in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly have ratified the appointments of nominees into State Universal Basic Education Board.
Recall that Governor Udom Emmanuel had, in a Message to the Speaker at Plenary on February 9, 2021, requested the House to confirm the appointments of Obong Paul Ekpo, Elder Godwin Enoidem, Mr. Ekong Ambrose, Iniobong Akpan and Johnny Udo into SUBEB.
The massage was referred to the House Committee on Judiciary, Justice, Human Rights and Public Petitions for further legislative action.
Chairman of the Committee and member representing Mkpat Enin, Mr. Victor Ekwere while delivering the Committee’s report at Tuesday Plenary, noted that the nominees were duly screened with no impediments found against them.
He said the nominees were of good repute and prayed the House to ratify their appointments.

Subsequently, the House after considering the report at the Committee of the Whole, cleared and confirmed the nominees for appointments.
The cleared nominees are Obong Paul Ekpo as Chairman, Elder Godwin Enoidem, Mr. Ekong Ambrose, Iniobong Akpan and Johnny Udo, as members.
In his remarks, Speaker of the House, Mr. Aniekan Bassey, directed the Clerk, Mrs. ManduUmoren to communicate the resolution of the House to the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Also at Plenary, ‘A Bill for a Law to Establish the Akwa Ibom State Health Insurance Agency and for Other Matters Connected Therewith’, sponsored by Mr. UdemeOtong, was read for the first time and committed to the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges for rescheduling.
In the meantime, the House has adjourned its plenary to Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
