Governor Udom Emmanuel has presented 30 new patrol Hilux vehicles to the Nigeria Police
The vehicles are fitted with modern communication gadgets necessary for 21 century crime fighting.
The presentation ceremony took place at the State Police Headquarters in Ikot Akpan Abia.
Presenting the vehicles, Governor Udom Emmanuel said it was in fulfillment of the earlier promise he made to the police to provide them with patrol vehicles to fight crime in the state in view of the recent breach of security witnessed in some parts of the state.
The Governor said he would continue to support the police for effective service delivery.
He announced that he would build a world class special protection unit for the police and also connect the state police headquarters to Afaha Ube power station as well as the donation of an electricity transformer to Uyo area command at Wellington Bassey Way.
Receiving the vehicle, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Amiengheme Andrew thanked the Governor for the donation, assuring him that the police would make good use of the vehicles.
Highpoint of the occasion was the ceremonial driving of the vehicles by Governor Emmanuel amidst jubilation by those present.
