Governor Udom Emmanuel has enjoined Christians to always exhibit humility and recognize the grace of God and divine purpose in whatever they do.
Governor Emmanuel made the call at a prayer convocation in Uyo organized by the State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board.
The Governor who took the Bible reading from Psalm number 65, also charged citizens to pray for the intervention and direction of God in the 2023 general elections in Akwa Ibom.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Governor Emmanuel said God is in charge of the affairs of Akwa Ibom State Government and that only Godswill would prevail on who will become the next Governor of the State.
He said God does not only pick the qualified for leadership, but qualifies whoever He picks to lead his people.
At the Prayer Convocation with the theme: Mighty Things Through Prayers, the Chairman of Akwa Ibom StateE Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Archbishop Cletus Bassey, said the summit was in keeping with the custom of the Board to always seek God’s help for the State and Nation.
The Executive Secretary of State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Mrs. Nsikak Abasi Orok while thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for approving the Prayer convocation and his magnanimity in supporting the Board describing Governor Emmanuel as a man who believes in prayer and the power of God to supernaturally control and intervene in the affairs of men.
The summit which also had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo represented by the Permanent Secretary in his Office, Mr. Nkopuruk Ekaiko, featured Choir Ministrations, praise and worship and prayers for Akwa Ibom and Nigeria as well as the success of the 2021 pilgrimage and presentation of a portrait by the Pilgrims Welfare Board to Governor Udom Emmanuel.
