A renewed partnership has been established between the Akwa Ibom State Government and the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, such that would allow the state government’s involvement and contributions to projects that would be undertaken by the commission in the state.
Governor Udom Emmanuel sealed the partnership when he played host to the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Óbóng Umana Okon Umana who was on a courtesy visit to him at the government house, Uyo, Wednesday.
The governor identified partnership as a critical success factor in the development of the region, pointing out that without the Niger Delta Development Commission working together with state governments, projects executed by the commission may not address the peculiar needs of the people.

He commended the Minister, Niger Delta Affairs for his unwavering commitment to state building, and described Obong Umanah as an eminent son of Akwa Ibom who has made invaluable contributions in the state leaving imprints of achievements in all his assigned responsibilities.
The Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs, Obong Umanah Okon Umana thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the massive transformation and live-touching projects in the state.
Obong Umana explained that the Ministry is adopting a new approach to the development of the Niger Delta region which seeks partnership with governors of the region in guiding the development process in order to achieve the desired results for the people.
The Minister was accompanied on the visit by the Minister of State for Niger Delta Affairs, Sharon Ikeazor, Administrator of NDDC, Effiong Akwa, and other officials of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
