Contractors in Akwa Ibom State have been enjoined to ensure roads constructed stand test of time in quality delivery.
The Chairman, House Committee on Works and Transport, Mr David Lawrence stated this while inspecting some roads in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district.
He applauded Governor Emmanuel for bringing development near to the people by investing resources on road intervention projects and charged the contracting firms to double effort in line with the Completion Agenda and to deploy local contents in the execution of the projects.
The Committee inspected the NtoEdinoEkwerazu Interstate Road and the Nto ide Ikot Amba Bridge handled by SEYANG.
The Chief Executive of the Firm, Engineer Samuel Inyang said that the Ikot Ekpene Umuahia Road project was awarded in 2015 and the first phase is near completion.
While commending the Committee on its oversight functions, Engineer Inyang sued for timely release of funds and increase of allocation to step up the density of wearing course to withstand the huge traffic of Heavy Duty Trucks.
At the 6.3 kilometre Amayam Road project handled by MiraiDenchi Nigeria Limited, the site Engineer,SMr Henry Mbanara said that they were embarking on Earth work and compacting of the soil before the stone base and wearing Course, having completed the side drains.
The House Committee Chairman urged the firm to take advantage of the weather and double up to avoid rainy season distraction.\

At Ikot Akpan Afaha/Ikot Okusung/Ikot Akai Road in Ukanafun, the committee expressed delight on the performance of A.Y.F Development Nigeria Limited for the work done.
The Director of the company, Engineer Ekpenyong Ekpenyong said that the work was near 70 percent completion and would in no distant time complete the project with side drains.
Some of the members in their separate reactions commended the indigenous firms for showing capacity and dexterity in the projects assigned them thereby reducing capital flights.
