Boundary crisis victims and residents of Ikpanya, Ibiono Ibom Local Government have received relief materials from Akwa Ibom state Government
The State Deputy Governor, Mr Moses Ekpo who distributed the relief materials to victims of the recent boundary crisis between Ikpanya and their neighbours in Arochukwu, Abia State sympathized with those affected by the ugly incident said the relief materials were temporarily measures taken by the state government to help cushion the effects of the crisis on the people.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary in his office, Mr Nkopuruk Ekaiko, the Deputy Governor said given the State Government’s high premium place on the welfare and well-being of its citizenry, it had caused security agencies to wade into the matter while it had also reported it to the National Boundary Commission, to find a lasting solution to the issue.

The Deputy Governor appealed to Ikpanya people to stay calm and avoid reprisal attacks on their neighbours, no matter the level of provocation and commended the member representing Ibiono Ibom in the State House of Assembly, Mr Godwin Ekpo and the Local Government Chairman Mr Ekpopimoh Polycarp on their efforts to ensure that peace is maintained in the area.

Responding, the Local Government Chairman Mr Ekopimoh Polycarp commended the State government for the prompt intervention and for the relief materials presented.
The Chairman who noted that the crisis has lingered for pretty long appealed to the state government to find lasting solution to it.
Speaking in the same vein the Ikpanya Councilor, Prince Esin Sunday who added that the people were in great need of food materials as they can no longer access their farms.
Materials presented included Aluminum Roofing Sheet, buckets, mattresses, bedding, detergent, mosquito nets, bath towels, nylon mats, cups, spoons and zinc nails among others.
