Conscious involvement of women in the scheme of things was among numerous reason advanced by Akwa Ibom women at June’s edition of the Monthly Women Spiritual meet, organized by the wife of the Governor, Dr. Martha Emmanuel, to intercede for the State and nation.
Held with the theme “God’s Glory” the event saw the women switch into massive celebration following the unveiling and official presentation of Senator Akon Eyakenyi as the PDP Deputy Governorship candidate by the Governor’s Wife, Dr. Martha Emmanuel.
According to Dr. Martha Emmanuel, no leading political party in the state has ever allowed women the opportunity of a Deputy Governorship slot, describing Sen. Akon Eyakenyi’s nomination as running mate to Pastor Umo Eno is considered an unprecedented turn around.
Encouraging women to always desire God’s glory upon their lives, the Governor’s wife forecast better days for Akwa Ibom women as she advised them to partake in the ongoing voter registration exercise and be ready to cast their votes at next year’s elections.

Appreciating Governor Udom Emmanuel and wife Martha, the Deputy Governorship candidate, Sen. Akon Eyakenyi thanked the PDP for believing in women and promised to justify the confidence reposed in her.
Rev. Sister Dorothy Aniekop expounded on the theme “God’s Glory” tasking Christians to magnify the glory of God in them through purposeful living.
