Akwa Ibom State Government says plans are underway to inject funds into the economy in the first quarter of this year for speedy growth and development in the State.
Governor Udom Emmanuel dropped the hint when he led members of the Divine mandate Campaign Team for a New Year Service at Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Nya in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area.
He was joined at the service by his wife. Martha, Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, Secretary to State Government, Head of Civil Service, serving and former Senators, members of the State Executive Council and other top echelons of Government.
Governor Emmanuel assured that with the approval by the House of Assembly, about 50 billion naira will be injected to stimulate the economy while contractors will be funded to complete ongoing projects in the State.
The Governor said as a member of the Divine Mandate, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga’s demise is a colossal loss to the State, especially when his wealth of experience was needed most.
He commiserated with the family of the late Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga, and prayed God to grant them, the State and Nation, the fortitude to bear the loss of the elder statesman who made selfless sacrifice for the development of the State and a made donations for renovation of Qua Iboe Ikot Nya, Nsit Ibom the local Assembly.
The Governor emphasized the need to obey Covid-19 safety guidelines and protocols, stressing that observing safety guidelines against the virus would be better for everyone than another lockdown.
In his homily, on the topic; “Preserving the Legacy”, the General Superintendent and Chairman of Conference of Qua Iboe Church, Reverend Effanga enjoined leaders to obey the leading of God, promote peace and desist from acts that are anti-development.
