Akwa Ibom State Government has created a new Ministry named Power and Petroleum Development.
The creation of the ministry follows approval by the Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel.
Newly sworn in commissioner, Dr. John James Etim is in charge of the Ministry of Power and Petroleum Development.
Another fresh comer, Pastor Umo Bassey Eno is to oversee the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources.
Former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Education Monitoring, Mrs. Idongesit Etiebet is now the commissioner for Education while Uko Essien Udom, SAN, is taking over from Uwemedimo Nwoko, SAN as the Commissioner of Justice and Attorney General.
Mrs. Enobong Mbobo has been moved to that of Rural Development and Cooperatives
Mr. Akan Okon retains his portfolio as commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mr. Nsikan Linus Nkan, Ministry of Finance, Okpolupm Ikpong Etteh, Ministry of Special Duties and Sir Charles Udoh, Ministry of Environment.
Still in the order are Mr. Orman Esin in charge of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Dr. Glory Edet, Ministry of Agriculture, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, Trade and Investment, Chief Uno Etim Uno, Transport and Solid Minerals and Otuekong Raphael Bassey, Ministry of Housing.

Pastor Sunday Ekanem Ibuot maintains his position in the Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning, Prof. Eno James Ibanga still heads the Ministry of Works and Fire Service, Mr. Frank Archibong, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prof. Augustine Vincent Umoh, Ministry of Health, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Comrade Ini Ememobong,  Ministry of Information and Strategy, and Dr. Imoh Moffat,  Ministry of Science and Technology with Elder Amanam Nkanga incharge of Bureau of Political and Social Re-orientation
A statement announcing this and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem quotes the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel as thanking the immediate past members of the State Executive Council for their services to the state and wishes them well in their future endeavours.
